After pioneering 80 PLUS® Ruby at 115 V, Sea Sonic Electronics extends Ruby certification to both major input-voltage categories.
Taipei, Taiwan – September 23, 2026 – Sea Sonic Electronics Co., Ltd. has reached another 80 PLUS® milestone with the Seasonic PRIME ENTERPRISE RX-1600, which is now the first 80 PLUS® Ruby-certified model to achieve certification at both 115 V and 230 V EU.
On August 18, 2026, the PRIME ENTERPRISE RX-1600 became the first ATX power supply to earn 80 PLUS® Ruby certification at 115 V. The addition of 230 V EU certification now gives the same model Ruby status across both major input-voltage categories used for desktop, workstation and non-redundant server applications.
Achieving Ruby at 115 V was already an important milestone for us. Extending that certification to 230 V EU means the PRIME ENTERPRISE RX-1600 now meets the highest 80 PLUS® efficiency tier across both major input-voltage categories,” said Walter Sun, CEO of Sea Sonic.

About 80 PLUS® Ruby at 230 V EU
Ruby is the newest and most demanding tier in the 80 PLUS® program, administered by CLEAResult. The program defines separate certification requirements for 115 V and 230 V EU internal non-redundant power supplies. To earn Ruby certification at 230 V EU, a power supply must achieve:
- 85 % efficiency at 5 % load
- 91 % efficiency at 10 % load
- 94 % efficiency at 20 % load, with a power factor of at least 0.95
- 96 % efficiency at 50 % load
- 92 % efficiency at 100 % load
At 20 %, 50 % and 100 % load, these targets are one percentage point higher than the corresponding 115 V Ruby requirements of 93 %, 95 % and 91 %, respectively. The 5 % and 10 % targets remain the same.
The inclusion of the 5 % and 10 % load points is significant because a power supply must demonstrate high efficiency not only at medium and high loads, but also when the system is operating at light load, where many systems spend much of their time.
Meeting these targets requires the platform to maintain very high conversion efficiency from light load through full load. At this level, further gains depend on work across switching control, component selection, thermal design and validation. Higher conversion efficiency also reduces energy lost as heat and lowers cooling requirements.
