There could have been a point in time, when we thought that the PC power supply design started to stabilize, reaching its culminating point, but the rapid development of modern AI technologies suddenly posed new challenges to the PC industry affecting all hardware components with a new demand to ramp up performance.
PC power supplies are “The Heart of Your System” and therefore must be able to provide an ever-increasing safe power to keep up with the demands of high-power applications. In this new era of AI revolution, Sea Sonic has started to introduce a new set of features under the umbrella name of OptiTech™.
So far there are two prominent design elements that are strengthening the Seasonic power supply design: OptiSink™ and OptiGuard™.

OptiSink™ was introduced at Computex 2024, as a first step to rehaul the entire PCB layout and manufacturing of Seasonic power supplies. The idea behind the process was to improve the cooling inside the power supply, which was achieved by increasing the internal space to facilitate better air movement. Internal components such as MOSFETs and heatsinks were not only reorganized but made smaller to reduce the footprint of these components.
During the past year we have learned a lot about the workings of this design and the process of production, and it is time this year to introduce now tweaks to this design to make it even better.
OptiSink 2.0™ features an updates Seasonic Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layout incorporating Surface Mount Technology (SMT). During the manufacturing process the SMD MOS (metal–oxide–semiconductor) and the SMD heatsinks are directly soldered onto the PCB, which greatly reduces production errors, material usage, and electricity costs. Additionally, metal cooling caps are placed over the MOS to further improve cooling.
Key Features:
- Enlarged Heatsink: Increasing the heatsink volume and extending coverage over the top of the MOSFET expands the surface area, thereby improving heat dissipation efficiency and increasing thermal capacity. This effectively lowers the MOSFET temperature and delays the fan’s startup point.
- Thermal Paste Injection: Injecting thermal paste to fill the gaps between the MOSFET and the heatsink creates a secondary heat dissipation path, enhancing the cooling efficiency of the MOSFET.
- Improvement: Based on simulations and testing, MOSFET temperatures can be reduced by up to 20%, allowing for lower fan speeds and resulting in quieter power supply operation.
This novel design further improves conductivity and increases heat dissipation. Thanks to the OptiSink 2.0™ Design, the internals of the power supply remain cooler, further lowering the need to use cooling fans, which eventually leads to energy savings and a quieter operation.

OptiGuard™ is a new feature under the OptiTech™ umbrella name that was coined to mean a new set of Seasonic technologies geared toward making a Seasonic power supply a specially tweaked, perfectly working, optimized-for-best-performance unit. Besides OptiSink™, OptiGuard™ is the second key feature getting introduced into the Seasonic power supplies to make them optimized for the ultimate protection against excessive power and temperature conditions in certain situations.
Poor cable management and the usage of low-quality materials in cables and connectors have resulted in unexpected overheating of cables and connectors in the past to compromise hardware safety. Recognizing the seriousness of such incidences and the elevated need to protect hardware the most efficient way, Seasonic engineers developed a foolproof solution to avoid any damage that may arise from overheating or over-power situations.
OptiGuard™ is an advanced safety feature to protect systems using high-power graphics cards. There are sensors installed at the terminals of the 12V-2×6 connectors to constantly monitor current and temperature readings. As soon as there is a sudden spike or abnormal reading detected, the power supply controls are quickly able to respond and safeguard the GPU and the entire system.

Dragon Song
The golden dragon ascending around a solid core pedestal, reaching towards the top-mounted Seasonic PRIME power supply is a symbol of pride and enduring legacy according to the artist’s vision. The luxurious gold was chosen for the dragon to show nobility, it is paired with understated and calm black surroundings to accentuate the gold color.
Designed around the Chinese cultural concept of Feng Shui, the dragon being a symbol of good luck and protection is summoned to celebrate the 50-year anniversary of Sea Sonic with its everlasting gold color. The core of the structure, housing the computer hardware, represents a “Treasure Cove”. The pattern decorating the center piece is inspired by the element of wind ( 风Feng), manifesting itself as a natural flow of energy.
At the front of the Treasure Cove is an inverted Chinese character for “Dragon” (龍), symbolizing the arrival of prosperity (“Dragon Arrival”). The characters for “wind” (风Feng) and “water” (水Shui) are CNC-engraved on the left and right sides, respectively. The two opposing sides at the base display the celebratory company logos honoring Sea Sonic’s 50th Anniversary. The rear panel is accented with diagonally placed gold and black Seasonic logos in a symmetrical layout.
Every little detail on this art piece was carefully considered and it took more than three months to complete the entire mod from concept design to completion. The core idea of the design is centered around prominence of the top-mounted Seasonic flagship PRIME power supply, with other components intentionally being hidden to give the PRIME the most distinctive spot. Beyond its striking and majestic appearance, the Dragon Song Mod does not compromise on performance; it features robust cooling elements and a rear-mounted GPU to ensure both visual appeal and flawless hardware operation.
