The new line of Seasonic’s FOCUS SGX is versatile in its application and powerful with a small footprint. It is a standard SFX unit, measuring at 125 mm (L) x 100 mm (W) x 63.5 mm (H). The FOCUS SGX (2021) is shipped with an SFX to ATX adapter bracket in the box, which allows the power supply to be mounted not only in the SFX form factor chassis, but also a standard ATX chassis should the user prefers to reserve more space for airflow inside the PC case. The Seasonic hybrid fan control is always enabled to optimize the cooling according to necessity.

The 2021 version of the FOCUS SGX measures at 125 and 100 mm in length and width. This super-compact size allows it to fit into various sized computer cases.

Hybrid Silent Fan Control – Fanless up to about 30 % load

The industry’s first, Seasonic patented, advanced three-phased thermal control achieves optimal balance between silence and cooling. This Hybrid Silent Fan Control functions in three operational stages: Fanless Mode, Silent Mode, and Cooling Mode.

FLUID DYNAMIC FAN BEARING

High performance Fluid Dynamic Bearing (FDB) fans are designed to take advantage of the impact absorbance effects of oil. They are extremely reliable and generate considerably less operating noise and heat than ball bearing fans. The lubrication of the bearing surface reduces friction and vibration and therefore lowers overall power consumption. Due to the effortless, quieter rotations and its robust construction, this reliable fan technology also greatly increases the lifespan of the fan.

  • When the fan shaft rotates, high pressure oil drifts along the grooves of the bearing sleeve to generate a thin layer of lubrication between the bearing faces.
  • As the speed increases, so does dynamic oil pressure and the shaft is lifted from the bearing to create smooth, effortless rotations. The herringbone shape of the groves helps to efficiently channel the lubricant and avert leakage.

FOCUS SGX is a compact SFX PSU with 550 W, 650 W and 750 W versions. Its small 125 × 100 × 63.5 mm dimensions make it useful for Mini-ITX and other space-constrained builds where a standard ATX PSU would take up unnecessary room.
No. Cable availability changes with wattage. The 550 W model has fewer PCIe and SATA connections than the 650 W and 750 W versions, while the 750 W model also includes a second CPU cable. Check the cable table as well as the wattage before choosing one for your hardware.
Yes. An SFX-to-ATX adapter bracket is included, so it can also be mounted in a compatible standard ATX case. That can be useful if you want additional free space around the PSU area.
Hybrid Silent Fan Control is always enabled on FOCUS SGX. At lighter loads the PSU can operate without the fan, while Silent and Cooling modes take over as additional cooling becomes necessary. Seasonic specifies fanless operation up to about 30% load.
Both are compact, fully modular SFX power supplies. The main differences are efficiency and wattage range: SGX is 80 PLUS Gold and is available from 550 W to 750 W, while SPX is 80 PLUS Platinum and comes in 650 W and 750 W.
