New Seasonic OptiSink™ Design

The overall quality and reliability of the new CORE GX ATX 3.1 Series has been greatly improved by a brand-new PCB (Printed Circuit Board) layout and the implementation of automated surface mount technology during production, which minimizes human production errors.

By using a redesigned PCB combined with smaller MOSFET and heat sink components, the internal space within the power supply was increased to enhance heat dissipation and airflow to result in better component cooling.

Increase Thermal Conductivity

The eightfold increase in thermal conductivity at the mounting interface, compared with thermal-pad mounting, keeps the internals of the power supply cooler, eventually leading to improved product quality and more efficient operation.

The redesigned layout of the power supply components and its improved thermal performance creates versatility and allows the power supply to be safely installed in any orientation.

The OptiSink™ design uses a redesigned PCB layout with smaller MOSFET and heat sink components, mounted by automated surface-mount technology. This increases the internal space available for airflow — up to 48% more than the previous generation — and shortens the thermal path between the power components and the heat sink.

Next-Gen and Legacy GPU Cable

FAQ

CORE GX is the fully modular option in the CORE family, while CORE GC uses fixed cables. GX also goes up to 1000 W and carries a 7-year warranty, compared with a maximum of 850 W and a 5-year warranty for GC. Both are 80 PLUS Gold and support ATX 3.1.
Yes. Along with its native 12V-2×6 connection, CORE GX includes a 12V-2×6 to 2×8-pin PCIe cable for graphics cards that still use traditional PCIe power connectors. This makes it possible to upgrade the PSU without having to change an older GPU at the same time.
The range covers 650 W, 750 W, 850 W and 1000 W. The right model depends on the CPU, graphics card and the rest of the system rather than on one component alone. There is no benefit in automatically choosing 1000 W if your configuration needs much less. If you are unsure, our Wattage Calculator can help you choose the right wattage.
OptiSink™ changes the internal PCB and heatsink layout to improve heat transfer and leave more room for airflow inside the PSU. The aim is better thermal performance without simply relying on larger heatsinks or higher fan speed. CORE GX is specified for operation from 0 to 50 °C, with linear derating from 100% to 80% between 40 °C and 50 °C.
Yes. Every power cable can be disconnected from the PSU, so you only install what your system needs. If you later add or replace a modular cable, check compatibility first rather than assuming that any Seasonic cable will work with any model.
