FOCUS SPX (2021)

The new line of Seasonic’s FOCUS SPX is versatile in its application and powerful with a small footprint. It is a standard SFX unit, measuring at 125 mm (L) x 100 mm (W) x 63.5 mm (H). The FOCUS SPX (2021) is shipped with an SFX to ATX adapter bracket in the box, which allows the power supply to be mounted not only in the SFX form factor chassis, but also a standard ATX chassis should the user prefers to reserve more space for airflow inside the PC case. The Seasonic hybrid fan control is always enabled to optimize the cooling according to necessity.

Hybrid Silent Fan Control – Fanless up to about 30 % load

The industry’s first, Seasonic patented, advanced three-phased thermal control achieves optimal balance between silence and cooling. This Hybrid Silent Fan Control functions in three operational stages: Fanless Mode, Silent Mode, and Cooling Mode.

  • arcticons_sound-amplifier Reduced noise without increase in temperature
  • fan Extended fan life due to the reduced number of fan rotations
  • material-symbols-light_heat-pump-balance-outline Optimized heat dissipation at all times
  • codepen Unsurpassed silent performance in Fanless Mode

Fluid Dynamic Fan Bearing

High performance Fluid Dynamic Bearing (FDB) fans are designed to take advantage of the impact absorbance effects of oil. They are extremely reliable and generate considerably less operating noise and heat than ball bearing fans. The lubrication of the bearing surface reduces friction and vibration and therefore lowers overall power consumption. Due to the effortless, quieter rotations and its robust construction, this reliable fan technology also greatly increases the lifespan of the fan.

  • When the fan shaft rotates, high pressure oil drifts along the grooves of the bearing sleeve to generate a thin layer of lubrication between the bearing faces.
  • As the speed increases, so does dynamic oil pressure and the shaft is lifted from the bearing to create smooth, effortless rotations. The herringbone shape of the groves helps to efficiently channel the lubricant and avert leakage.

FAQ

No. It is a standard SFX power supply, but Seasonic includes an SFX-to-ATX mounting bracket in the box. This means it can also be installed in a compatible ATX case if you want to use a smaller PSU or leave more.
Platinum refers to its efficiency under the 80 PLUS certification test conditions. High efficiency is particularly useful in a compact PSU because less input energy is wasted as heat inside a very small enclosure.
No. FOCUS SPX is a 2021 SFX platform and is not part of Seasonic's current ATX 3.1 lineup. If native 12V-2×6 or an ATX 3.1 PSU is required for your build, check the current ATX 3.1 product range instead.
No. On this model, the hybrid fan-control system is always enabled. The fan can remain off at lighter loads — Seasonic describes fanless operation up to approximately 30% load — and starts when additional cooling is required.
Choose according to the complete system rather than simply taking the larger model. Our Wattage Calculator can help you check the power requirements. Also keep in mind that the 750 W version has a different cable configuration, including two CPU cables, so check the connector requirements for your hardware before buying.
