Digital Hybrid Fan Control

Seasonic’s vast experience in designing the most silent and efficient power supplies on the market was translated into the development of Hybrid Mode; a state-of-the-art digital fan control that enables users to keep the overall fan noise at the lowest possible level.
Note: The Digital Hybrid Fan Control chart is provided for reference only. The shape of the curve can look different due to the variability in ambient temperature, system set-up, air flow, and other unpredictable factors.

Fluid Dynamic Fan Bearing

High performance Fluid Dynamic Bearing (FDB) fans are designed to take advantage of the impact absorbance effects of oil. They are extremely reliable and generate considerably less operating noise and heat than ball bearing fans. The lubrication of the bearing surface reduces friction and vibration and therefore lowers overall power consumption. Due to the effortless, quieter rotations and its robust construction, this reliable fan technology also greatly increases the lifespan of the fan.

  • When the fan shaft rotates, high pressure oil drifts along the grooves of the bearing sleeve to generate a thin layer of lubrication between the bearing faces.
  • As the speed increases, so does dynamic oil pressure and the shaft is lifted from the bearing to create smooth, effortless rotations. The herringbone shape of the groves helps to efficiently channel the lubricant and avert leakage.

Recommended 12V-2×6 Cable Installation

  • BOTH 12V-2×6 connectors of your 12V-2x6 cable must always be plugged into your power supply, ensuring they are FULLY INSERTED, CLICK-LOCKED, and TIGHT.
  • DO NOT bend or apply force to the cable after it is plugged into place.

FAQ

The main difference is efficiency certification. VERTEX PX carries an 80 PLUS Platinum rating, while VERTEX GX is 80 PLUS Gold. Both ranges come in 750 W, 850 W, 1000 W and 1200 W and share features such as ATX 3.1 support, native 12V-2×6 connectivity, full modularity and Digital Hybrid Fan Control.
No. Its wattage range also makes it suitable for content-creation and professional workstations, provided the selected model matches the actual system requirements. A workstation with a high-power GPU and CPU may benefit from one of the higher-wattage versions, while a less demanding build does not automatically need 1000 W or 1200 W.
No. Digital Hybrid Fan Control allows the PSU to operate without the fan when active cooling is not needed. The fan starts and adjusts its speed as temperature and workload increase. Fan behavior can also vary depending on ambient temperature, case airflow and the system itself.
Do not assume that a modular cable is compatible just because the connector fits. Seasonic cable compatibility depends on the PSU series and cable type, so always check the Cable Compatibility information before reusing an older cable or buying an additional one.
The full range is 80 PLUS Platinum certified. Seasonic currently also lists Cybenetics Platinum efficiency and A acoustic ratings for the 1000 W and 1200 W versions, while the Cybenetics results for the 750 W and 850 W models are still shown as TBA on the product page.
